Photos – Canada

It’s a beautiful midwestern fall day. Once again I’ve got my cup of coffee in hand, Randy has just unearthed his childhood army set (ugh!) from the barn and the kids are going wild over it. I thought I’d upload a few photos from our drive across Canada.

We will be here in Indiana for one more week and then make the final stage of our road trip to Maine. Plans are shaping up for what’s to come after that. I’m on the edge of my seat. Stay tuned!

On to the pictures…

Remember the funky chicken? We made a stop in quirky Chicken, Alaska before crossing the border into the Yukon Territory.

Even the outhouses are chicken themed. Look closely at the signs on the doors.

Sign post forest in Watson Lake, YT – as of 1990 there were 10,000 signs from all over the world. At first it just seemed like a silly tourist trap but it was rather fun wandering around looking for signs from our hometowns and other out of the way places!

Well hello Mr. Bison! Along this stretch of the Alaska Hwy we saw amazing wildlife. A herd of Bison, mountain sheep, elk and more bears than we saw in our whole time in Alaska – 14 in one day!

The boys turned the area behind our campsite into “dinosaur valley”. They hunted for fossils, pretended to be paleontologists and built this village for their dinos.

Crossing back into the States, we spent a few luxurious days at a cabin in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota thanks to the generosity of some friends in Seattle. Once again, Bodhi was the link as it was the family cabin of a kindergarten friend of his. It was great to be out of the van, to have running water, showers and even a fireplace! Here is Bodhi hard at work on one of his now favorite pastimes.

And now…. On to Indiana!
